Maternity Services (Obstetrics)

• Part of our patient-focused Renaissance Project, our new maternity accommodations will help make the birthing environment almost as special as your "special delivery":
  • New state-of-the-art Labor/Delivery rooms create a comforting environment while providing all the necessary equipment and clinical support for mother and baby
  • All 26 postpartum beds offer private accommodations
  • Homelike furnishings, soft lighting and finishes to evoke a sense of tranquility and calm

  NICU	Room View	Patients

• Special Care Nursery for premature babies. Premature deliveries as early as 30 weeks and newborns with developmental complications or conditions receive the specialized care they need in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Staffed by highly trained, board-certified neonatologists and nurses, the Nursery provides intensive one-to-one care and is equipped with dedicated medical technology for premature deliveries and newborns with special needs. The nursery also features a state-of-the-art monitoring system.
• Specialized services for women with high-risk pregnancies. Staffed by some of the area's leading specialists in high-risk pregnancies, our Ante-Partum Testing Center provides a comprehensive package of services, including perinatology, fetal monitoring and genetics counseling. Diagnostic care for all stages of high-risk pregnancies includes amniocentesis and ultrasound.

To enhance patient coverage, we also have an OB/GYN residency affiliation with board-certified attending physicians on staff to ensure an immediate response to all obstetrical and gynecological emergencies, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding offers many long-term benefits for both baby and mom. The professionals at our acclaimed Lactation Resource Center offer the expertise and knowledge to help support the breastfeeding family in a variety of situations with:

• Outpatient consultations
• Breastfeeding equipment and supplies
• A support group and warmline for nursing mothers

Gynecology

At South Nassau, we're known for delivering patient-centered gynecologic and reproductive health care services that emphasize personal attention and comfort - and for bringing to the women of this community leading-edge services and specialized expertise in:

• Gynecologic Oncology. Dr. Paul Liu, MD recently attained national recognition for helping several patients successfully deliver full-term babies following treatment of ovarian cancer. This specialty works closely with the Breast & Gyn Health Center of our comprehensive Cancer Center program.
• Urogynecology. Led by J. Andrew Fantl, MD, a pioneer in urogynecology, the program offers surgical and non-surgical solutions to pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. You may access these services at the Hospital or the Women's Health Center, located in Bellmore.
• Reproductive endocrinology and infertility. To help couples who are having difficulty conceiving achieve their parenthood dreams, we offer a comprehensive program including evaluation, testing, treatment, ovulation induction, egg retrieval and fertilization. Our specialists can meet with you at the Hospital or at the Women's Health Center.
• Minimally invasive surgical procedures. By combining minimally invasive, modern medical technology with the skills and expertise of the surgeons, we provide gynecologic surgical procedures that can reduce the length of your hospital stay and speed recovery. We're committed to providing you with the treatment that will produce the best outcome, including non-surgical alternatives when we think they will be most effective.
