Becker's Best Place to Work Award

Becker's Hospital Review has named South Nassau Communities Hospital to its 2011 list of the 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare in the United States. South Nassau was selected for its demonstrated excellence in providing a work environment that promotes teamwork, professional development and quality patient care. The list was developed through nominations, research and a rigorous review with peer organizations and is composed of hospitals, health systems, surgery centers and large physician practices. Becker's Hospital Review is a bimonthly magazine published by ASC Communications located in Chicago, Ill. The magazine is read by many of the nation's leading healthcare executives and policy makers.

This is the third significant media honor that South Nassau has received this year. Previously, South Nassau was voted the Best Hospital on Long Island by readers of The Long Island Press and the U.S. News & World Report's first-ever Best Hospitals metro area rankings ranked South Nassau thirty-fifth among all hospitals in the New York metropolitan area, which includes hospitals based in New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, and northern New Jersey.

Among other recognitions, South Nassau is a designated Stroke Center and Comprehensive Community Cancer Center and is recognized as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. It has also been awarded the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines® program's Gold Performance Achievement Award for Coronary Artery Disease for two consecutive years, and its Home Care program has been named to the HomeCare Elite™ listing of the top home health care providers in the U.S. each of the five years the listing has been released.
